The show was a great success! It was an amazing night, so much support and kind comments from complete strangers! I was surprised by how many people had read the article in the Provincetown Independent about myself, the process and the work. My latest still life captures a pair of apricots and vibrant cluster of Rainier cherries, their glossy skins catching the soft light against a deep, inky backdrop. Scattered cherries spill onto the crisp linen cloth, drawing the eye toward a ivory-handled knife casting a shadow off the tables edge . I hope you like it! [...]

Farm fresh eggs from my sister-in-law’s chickens are featured in this painting (thanks Jackie!). I had this idea floating around for a while. This past weekend I dropped over 6 new works to the Rice Polak Gallery in Provincetown, MA. The owner Marla Rice was eager to get new works in for the second half of summer. I was thrilled when she let me know how receptive gallery visitors were with my work. ‘Stilton Snacks’ highlights the richness of simple ingredients - creamy Stilton cheese, ripe figs, and a few scattered nuts. I was drawn to the warm, earthy palette and the subtle textures of the subjects, from the velvety fig skin to the crumbly edge of the cheese. The softly fading background adds a dramatic contrast, drawing the eye directly to the cheese and enhancing the sense of depth and stillness. [...]

This month’s featured painting, ‘A Simple Feast’ is my largest work to date at 16"x12". I typically paint objects life-sized, and the antique wine decanter in this composition called for a larger panel to capture its presence properly. This piece took considerable time and care to complete, balancing the textures of glass, pewter, olives, and fabric to create a sense of abundance.
