Still Life & Landscape Painter - Cape Cod, MA
This painting is a study in contrast of colors and textures. I enjoy how the half-peeled fruit gives the painting more life and movement. Sometimes items can become too solid and finding ways to give them life is a lot of fun.
This 6x12 Blueberry painting has a more painterly apperence than what I normally produce. It's fun to make these kinds of paintings and see how much you can get away with leaving to the viewers eye.
This still life is a bit different for me with the use of a vibrant red cloth receding into the background to help convey depth. It paired well with the three Apriums (apricot/plum hybrid) in the silver bowl centered in the painting.
This painting started with the copper cup I had just found, along with the cards. I thought it could use more interest and so I added the dice and coins from imagination. I like to incorporate objects that can relate to eachother easily.
I discovered this new fruit while shopping one weekend. I had so many questions! What is it? Where does it come from? What does it taste like? And of course, how hard is it to paint?
I was really inspired by the deep golden color of the beer in the glass. Beer is always best with a little snack, so a bowl of pistachios fit in perfectly.
This miniature watermelon was a lot of fun to compose and paint. I like the variety of shapes and the leftover rind of the piece I ate while setting it up.
This 'Lemon on Blue Cloth' was painted from life over two sessions. I always enjoy painting the reflections in metal and tried a new idea when painting the cloth to give it a subtle texture.
I saw these Mandarin oranges at the store and knew I had to try and paint them. I have a few more that ended up in another painting I hope to finish soon!
I had a lot of fun painting this one. The mixture of textures and surfaces was a good challenge and it really feels like fall.
This painting is inspired by a walk I took at Fort Hill in Eastham, MA. The sky was in appreciation to the beautiful purple Lupins that come up there each spring.
I just finished this 6x12 oil painting of a silver bowl with cherries. It’s a lot of fun to paint metal and all the reflections it catches. I hope you like it!
Inspired by trip to New Hampshire.
This oil painting of peaches on a white table cloth makes me feel like summer is coming. It's a beautiful piece to liven up any room.
I took this photo of raspberries a few years ago and just got around to painting it. I experimented on this painting with a warmer transparent background.
I can't pass up a chance to paint citrus when I can find them at the store with their leafs still attached! Painted from life over a couple sessions.
This is was a painting where I wanted to explore simplifying objects like the glass, coins and dollar bill. Painted from life over a few weeks.
This is an original oil painting of a slice of a blue pumpkin. Inspired by Henri Fantin-Latour and his painting of a cantaloupe slice. Painted from life over two days.
This is an original oil painting done from life of a bread roll and a few peices of pewter I have collected the past year or so. I enjoy the simplicity of this composition and the objects.
This is an original oil painting study of a yellow peach painted from life. One of the more challenging objects I have painted due to so many shifts in hufe and value. Eating it afterwards was the real reward!
This still life is the beginning of my exploration into my Dutch inspired style of still life painting. It features a silver cup and heirloom tomato and garlic from my families gardens.
This still life was setup in a small wooden box leftover from a flower arrangement. It won 1st Place in oil at the 2023 Creative Arts Center Members Show!
Another exploration into painting the Dutch style still life painting. Includes a silver cup, antique fork with ivory colored handle and rumpled cloth napkin.
This abandoned farmhouse painting is inspired from the various places I've been lucky enough to explore throughout New England. I especially had fun working magenta hues into all the shadows. I hope you enjoy!
I love the font Fox Farm Brewery uses for their logo so I had to incorporate it into this painting. I don’t think it will be the last time you see it either!
While my oil painting journey is still very young, it has been a long time in the making. I've been interested in art since a child and would happily spend hours drawing things I found interesting. Though my teenage years were mostly filled with playing the drums, it kept my creative side going. It was 2018 when I finally picked up a paint brush to create my first Christmas card. I first tried watercolors for a few years but made the switched to oil paints after seeing the possibilities of the medium.
I'm looking forward to continuing to grow as an artist and hope you will follow me along for the adventure.
